Another week sneaks past…

time fies

When did life switch to double speed mode? It hardly seems possible that another week has past and I, thinking I had all the time in the world, am still without a Blog Post for Saturday morning. Oops.

When in doubt, I always focus on local small businesses. WordPress websites and small businesses go together like toast and butter.

How is your business doing? How is your website doing?

One thing I have learned about websites is that they need constant attention. Well, OK, maybe not constant but certainly regular attention. Is it time for a logo refresh? A color change? Maybe some new copy? Upgraded photos/videos? An improved contact form? Attention to Google and SEO? A shopping cart added? A theme update or change? Page load speed analysis? Database cleanup? A clarification of your business message? More and better content for your customers? Keyword analysis?

You get the idea. These days, it behooves the small business to invest all the money they are saving by not having a yellow page ad right back into their web presence. After all, your website is very often the FIRST thing a potential new client sees about your business. You, the small business owner, need to get inside the head of your web visitors and give them what they want. Contact? Information? Forms to download? Product information? Services information? Information about you and and your business? Online bill pay? Mobile website?

CapeWP.com will work with you to assess what you need to do and the best way to accomplish the goals we define together.

Funnily enough, my own website needs some attention. I am headed in the direction of a full redesign and logo redesign, with, of course, new business cards to match. I figure that is why God invented Winter on Cape Cod.

I am now going to do something a bit out of character. I am going to recommend and provide a link to a non WordPress website. Yikes! Why would I do something so radical?

Well, because the product quality is second to none. Over the past 13 years or so, Carved Home Signs has made over a thousand customers very happy. The website admittedly is circa 1999 and needs a refresh, WordPress style. And I know the owner would love to do it. Except for lack of time and/or money. Welcome to owning a small business on Cape Cod. We all know the drill 🙂

I ask you to do as I have, and look past the “slightly dated” website to the actual product. (the website performs flawlessly and is secure).

If you would like a sign for your home, Carved Home Signs is your new best friend. This is also a great example of shopping on the web and also keeping it local!

As this 2013 Holiday Season arrives, let’s remember to shop locally if possible and give generously to our favorite causes.

Now I need to get back to work on my/your website 🙂
